Butter-Basted Wagyu Denver Steak
Butter, thyme, and garlic bring out the beefy flavor of our Wagyu Denver steaks. This recipe is divine in its simplicity—and it allows the meat to take center stage.
Ingredients
- 2 6-oz Miraflora Wagyu Denver steaks
- Salt
- Pepper
- ¼ cup neutral oil
- 3 cloves of garlic
- Small bunch of thyme
- ¼ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
Instructions
-
Pat Denver steaks dry and sprinkle generously with salt and pepper. Let sit uncovered for 10-20 minutes allowing the steaks to come up to room temperature. Pat once more with a paper towel, removing excess moisture.
-
Heat a cast iron skillet or stainless steel pain over high heat. Once the pan is very hot, add oil and lay steaks down gently. Allow steaks to sear undisturbed for 2-3 minutes or until a deep golden brown crust is achieved.
-
Flip steaks. Add thyme, garlic, and butter to the pan. Reduce the heat to medium and baste the steaks with the butter as it melts and foams. Continue to baste for 2-3 minutes.
- From this point check the temperature using a meat thermometer. Continue to flip the steak every minute until you’ve reached your desired internal temperature (recommended to pull at 130 F for medium-rare).
- When your desired internal temperature is achieved, remove steaks from the pan. Pour thyme, garlic, and butter from the pan over the steaks and let them rest for 4-5 minutes.
- Serve with your favorite veggie sides and enjoy!
